Precalculus B :: Worksheet 2

  1. A right triangle has hypotenuse of length \(c\), and two legs of length \(a=7\) and \(b=2\). Let \(u\) be the angle between the side of length \(c\) and the side of length \(2\), and \(v\) be the angle between the side of length \(c\) and the side of length \(7\). Find the six trigonometric values for \(u\) and \(v\). Leave your answers in exact form.
  2. A right triangle has one angle of measure \(78^\circ\), and the length of the sided between that angle and the right angle is 500 (this leg is not the hypotenuse). Find the other angle, and the length of the other leg and the length of the hypotenuse.
  3. Find the lengths of all sides of a right triangle with perimeter 29 and a \(42^\circ\) angle. Round your answers to three decimal places.
  4. If \(\cos u = 1/5\), and \(u\) is an angle in quadrant I, find the remaining trig values of \(u\). Give exact answers.
  5. Find an equation which gives the area of an equilateral triangle with side length \(x\).
